Chris de Jongh Shibucho
Mugai Ryu Nederland Shibucho
For more than 40 years now I have been engaged in budo. It all started with judo when I was 10 years old. A few years later it was my uncle who inspired me to start with aikido and karate.
The past 40 years have brought me a vast experience with various aspects of Japanese budo. I visited Japan several times to practice judo, karate, Hyoho niten ichi ken-jutsu and other disciplines. In judo as well as in karate I have participated in local, national en international competitions.
The teachers who influenced my development in budo and my way of teaching most, are Chris de Korte (9th degree in judo), Sugano Seiichi (8th degree in aikido), Tamura Nobuyoshi (8th degree in aikido) en Higaonna Morio (10e degree in Okinawa goju ryu karate do).
Stimulated by Tamura sensei I started searching for an iaido school that could help me further on my way of growth and development in budo. After wandering around some time I fortunately met Luciano Morgenstern. Under his guidance I started practising Mugai ryu iaido. Everyone who is interested in this sword discipline I’ll gladly invite to come to one of our dojo’s to join a training. Besides that, we readily do workshops and perform in demonstrations.
