initiative is aimed at the stimulating the practice of classical budo
traditions (koryu).

Kochokai Mugai Ryu Iaido Kenjutsu Amsterdam Haarlem

Training in Mugai ryu Iaihyodo is every Sunday from 20:00 to 21:30
Jephtastraat 1
2026 WB Haarlem

Knowing the value and necessity of being surrounded by experienced
budoka (other then the teacher) for ones development; and also knowing
that this will be difficult to establish at the start, Kochō-kai tries
to offers just such an environment.

Inspired by Kamakura Budokan (public sports hall for martial arts in
the Japanese city of Kamakura), Kochō-kai makes use of an old concept
and revitalizes it for The Netherlands. In that Budokan, anyone can
rent a spot for two hours in one of the dojo. He/she can train for
himself or with a group. In a spontaneous way groups and class are
created and meet regularly to train.

This year Kochō-kai opens its doors every Sunday all martial artists
from various classical traditions (ryu-ha) to come together and train
in their own tradition, ensuring an environment for starting Mugai ryu
students that will be inspiring and benefitial to their development.
We expect that training among several budoka with 6-15 years of
experience in koryu will be more the norm than the exception.

Tameshigiri is practiced every first Sunday of the month by both Mugai
Ryu practitioners, and practitioners of other traditions.
